Not to Jump to Any Conclusions, but....

The CDT reports that

A 41-year-old man was beaten and stabbed three times while walking in downtown State College last night
, searching for a friend who had called for his help.

State College police say they are now searching for the person, or people, responsible, but don’t have any descriptions.

Police say the victim and his wife drove to State College from Mifflinburg around 11:15 p.m. yesterday after a friend had vehicle trouble and needed help in a downtown parking lot.

When the couple arrived, police say the man began searching for his friend on foot between the 400 block of E. College Avenue and the intersection of East Beaver Avenue.

That’s where he was assaulted, first hit on the head, then stabbed three times, police say.

At the time, he was wearing an Ohio State baseball hat, a red hooded Ohio State sweatshirt, shorts, sandals, and eyeglasses. Police say several of those items are now missing.

Remember this?

[Update 09/15/08:

Police also said today the incident did not occur in Centre County. Police could not provide any other details about the incident but said in light of the new information, there is not an immediate health and safety risk for residents of State College.]
